Guo Wengui is a Chinese billionaire who lives in London after he left China over two years ago. He recently posted accusations to his social media account, claiming that relatives related to Communist Party officials were guilty of corruption.
Shortly after he posted that, he noticed that he didn't have access to his Facebook account.
Wengui has publicized accusations against high-ranking Communist Party officials and this week there was an arrest warrant issued for him through Interpol after requests were made by the Chinese government.
Facebook has said that they didn't mean to suspend his account and it has since been restored. They said that if they were to fully discuss why the mistake might have happened, that it might highlight a weakness that would allow others to exploit and be able to manipulate the system.
Shortly after he noticed his Facebook account was down, he then took to his Twitter account to post and see what was going on. “Can this stop my revelations?” he tweeted, “This is truly lawless,” he said. Adding, “This fear and worry makes me think that [maybe my evidence] is bigger than [first] imagined.”
Wengui was reportedly interviewed earlier this week by Voice of America and an official with them has said that Chinese government officials have pressured them not to air the interview.
He has made claims on social media about corruption involving current state leaders and members of their family. And he hasn't shown any signs that he is going to back down anytime soon. He has vowed to continue exposing whatever he knows, admitting that he has been working with lawyers in order to determine the best way to release the information he has.
Wengui himself is also accused of bribing a former intelligence official, allegedly giving him around $8 million dollars. He has denied those allegations.
He has said that this is just the beginning and he's allegedly already named top Chinese officials like Wang Qishan who is a senior leader of the Party, Fu Zhenghua the public security vice minister, and others.
