I was convinced that it ended like this. As in '94 I was convinced that Berlusconi, in Italy, would take the majority of votes.
The opposition to Trump (as to Berlusconi more than twenty years ago) has been made on the merits, with logical reasons, clear arguments. It does not work like this.
Trump expresses the power of transgression. No matter if it's even disgusting and unpresentable. He says to be genuine. And people lives him like that.
When I saw the last Hillary Clinton's pre-election spot, "Tomorrow", the day before yesterday, I was sure that Trump would win: for the umpteenth time, through that spot, it was expressed the reasonable calmness of bourgeois fiction.
All those who have felt frustrated at least once in their lives have voted Trump. Even for masochism, of course, even for simple adherence to a state of manic depressive mood.
I remember a representative of Forza Italia, Berlusconi's party, in the list of '94 elections in Italy. When he heard the results he screamed to me: "You don't understand. It's decades that I'm frustrated... in elementary school, junior high..., I was excluded by those who claimed to be smartest than me... Now I'll show them... Fuck! It's my revenge.
Time has to pass. It will not be short. If they had nominated Sanders, he would win hands down.
Trump won. Hooray Trump. God bless America.
