That Old man

This is from one of those days, when I visited a temple in remote Indian Village with my parents during a particular festival period - Navratri.

Navratri is a festival of nine days in which Hindus worship Goddess Durga. It is celebrated for nine days because we have nine forms of Goddess Durga with each having its own significance and meaning. Generally, an Indian temple in remote village will have only the few local visitors but during the festival period, the temples don' even have spaces in them for people to stand and pray.

They are so crowded during those periods and outside the temples, you can always see a MELA (fest in Hindi). In the fest, you can see people selling toys, people selling holy prasad & flowers. And yes, you can witness people begging too, not sure if begging happens in all the countrys but here in India you can always spot a beggar outside the temple OR on traffic lights.

While rushing outside of the temple's crowd, my parents and I spotted this old man, playing his instrument with his eyes closed. My father stopped to give him some money and that is when the angle I was standing at caught me, and I took my phone out to click him.

Then we went ahead to the parking area. There was one thing about the old man that I really liked - He was not begging, he was collecting money playing his instrument. Respect.
