About 23 days ago, I started a crazy challenge in which I plan to reach my yearly hive goals by powering up 3172 hive in 28 days. There are now 5 days remaining until the end of the year.
As of today, I have 71'305 Hive powered up on my main account. This means that I'm still 695 Hive shy of reaching my target. With 5 days remaining, the time is short.
When I started the challenge, I set a benchmark in which I calculated that I had to add 117 hive power every single day to reach my goal. According to my benchmark, I should have today 71'519 Hive. This means that I'm 214 hive behind bechmark. Considering that I was once 641 above benchmark, this shows that my staking rate was quite low in the past days.

At the beginning of the challenge, I used the easily available sources to power up like liquid HBD, swap.hive and other assets that I could liquidate without problems. After that however, things started to get more difficult. I could rely on the organic growth of my stake on curation rewards and on author rewards. I also managed to draw some funds from hive-engine but in general the growth has become much slower.
My plan for the last 5 days
Unfortunately from now on, I can't count on new posts for adding to the total. There are only two posts left that will reach payment before the end of the year. Even this post will be due after the end of the year.
My secret weapon is the interest payments from my HBD stake. I will be able to claim these interests in 4 days. If my calculations are correct, I will get 180 HBD that I will be able to swap for hive. This should add at least 500 hive to the total.
I believe that I should get about 100 hive from organic growth and curation rewards in the remaining 5 days. Then there are the two posts that should also bring in something like 20 hive each.
If I pull all this together, I'm actually quite close to the necessary 695 hive. I plan to find the difference in the form of hive-engine tokens that I can swap.
The challenge is more demanding that I expected
I have to say that I thought that I would be able to complete this challenge quite easily but it has been more difficult than I expected. The positive thing is that I increased the posts that I produced and it made me think about what kind of goals I would set for the next year. Overall it has been a worthy challenge that I set for myself. A challenge should be achievable but it should also not be too easy that it requires some efforts to reach it. That is definitely the case :-)
