What is steem trail ?
The projects founder @instructor2121 explains it better then I can in his steemtrail introduction post
The SteemTrail proposal provides a two phase approach that is aimed at user engagement in the curation of categories/tags, and increased voting of users across the platform. Correctly implemented, SteemTrail will organically grow each category/tag(s) by providing incentives for those who vote consistently and seek out new members to support the category/tag(s) they prefer.
I like the idea of assisting steemians who write content I want to see succeed, and have already proudly watched many steemians evolve as content creators and achieve success over the few months I have been here.
By organizing teams of curators focused on specific tags we can help ensure that quality content creators don't get missed, go unrewarded and leave the platform for one of our competitors.
Guidelines to be considered for votes by steemtrail
- Make it clear for us to verify that you own the content or have the rights to any media you use in your post.
- If you use external content make sure you provide appropriate and verifiable references and credits to the sources (this applies to texts, pictures, videos, etc). When sources are not cited, we will assist you with adding that information to your post. We will not vote until this is done.
- Only use tags relevant to your content.
If you need help with formatting and sourcing, you can also visit the steemprentice channel on steemit chat.
My chosen categories
These are the initial tags I will be curating and attempting to build more of a community around. If you use one of these tags , and write a relevant quality post I will do my best to assist you to correct any issues, vote and submit your post to the rest of the #steemtrail curation team.
I don't have any particular "control" over any of these categories, I'm just announcing that I will be paying closer attention here. If you'd like to get involved, come to steemtrail on steemit.chat and let us know!
Australia

[Source]
Because I'm an Aussie and want to network and encourage other Aussies to network and succeed on the platform. The Australian media is extremely biased and heavily censored imo, so a strong network here could be useful for spreading important information relevant to Aussie interests.
Security
[Source]
Both physical security and information security topics interest me, and I hope we will eventually see things like responsible (but uncensorable) vulnerability disclosure on the blockchain.
Programming

[ Source ]
I want to make sure fellow developers building tools or teaching others valuable skills are recognized and rewarded for their contributions - especially if tools are open source and tutorials/guides are unique and original.
Truth

[ Source ]
The "truth" category is broad, and hard to judge and define exactly . I would love to see original, well-research and written posts about controversial topics, leaning away from unsourced "conspiracy" accusations and towards first hand experiences, and whistleblowers with evidence they want archived on an uncensorable distributed blockchain. Which leads to my final category..
Wikileaks

[ Source ]
I have been a fan of the wikileaks founder since back when he was "mendax", and share his desire for transparency and accountability in government. I'd like to see more discussion and archiving of important wikileaks publications to the blockchain, and started @steemleak 3 months ago for this purpose.
I'm now opening the account to contributors and aiming to make this more of a shared community project. I hope that by showcasing steem for crowdfunding, decentralized content distribution and discussion we can draw even more great content creators, journalists and media attention.
Bias warning: I will attempt to be unbiased in my curation of this tag, but would appreciate assistance here as I am definitely pro-wikileaks. A healthy discussion requires both sides to be heard, and I worry that I may hesitate to help promote well written articles that I don't agree with personally.
You can join SteemTrail too !
SteemTrail is open for everyone to contribute to, it's a community project anyone can join.
For further guidance see the steemtrail channel on steemit.chat and announce the tag(s) you wish to curate and see the pinned links and pdf in the sidebar.
