Random photos, one more try

I had another attempt to post random photos and failed miserably.

I keep the photos in folders, in the order they were taken and with a connection to each other, being taken on holidays, trips, walks, museums and exhibitions, etc.

When I look for photos to use in a post, I select a part that I find better for the story about the holiday, the trip, and the walk...

For this post I set out to find photos taken on different occasions and times, some that I think are better but the moment I open the folder I am trapped in time.

The year 2018

Searching through the photos more to clean up and delete a lot that I am keeping unnecessarily because they are either duplicates, less successful, or with big mistakes, I found a series of images from an event I had almost forgotten about...

The great civil society protest in Bucharest, Romania, on August 10, 2018.

There were tens of thousands of participants in the Victoriei Square in Bucharest. Mostly young people but also seniors with young souls, as I hope my wife and I were.

It was a protest against the ruling party trying to change the justice laws to protect corrupt politicians.

The illuminated building in the background is the seat of the Romanian government, an empty building guarded by many gendarmes.

The protest was peaceful and the participants, civilized people, wanted to show that they did not agree with changing the laws. We didn't know that things would degenerate and we all participated in a big provocation organized by politicians with the help of thugs and gendarmes.

After half a day in the square, we headed home. It was a good decision.

On the side streets, we passed gendarmes who were prepared for battle, mounted gendarmes with dogs. We were surprised to see such a sight, people took pictures of them and even addressed them with bad words.

All night long there was a harsh repression against those who remained in the square.

This was the last big protest in Romania. The head of the ruling party was sentenced to prison and disappeared from the country's politics.

And yet, looking further I found proof that this year was also particularly enjoyable for me, finding the second year I spent a few days on an island in Greece.

Thassos Island, 2018, September

Thassos Island in the Aegean Sea was the most beautiful place I've seen, and I think there's little chance of seeing another.

Walks on the beach.

Beach on the beach. I like to call this photo: "Two houses" because otherwise nobody will notice them...

The walks through the pine forests remained the best memories.

This dog collapsed on the pavement of a stall, which reminds me of how I used to feel after long walks between villages on the island.

This little trip through the photos gave me the pleasure of remembering events that happened very close in time, in August-September, 2018.
