Week on Hive

20 of 44 tracked posts made it to this week's issue of the "Week on Hive" roundup.

In the Spotlight

Hive is Five!

On March 20th is the anniversary of Hive or Fork Day as it's also called. Hive just turned 5, without counting the legacy years since 2016 to 2020, which are also part of Hive's history. It is also interesting that this year Hive has as much history on its own as it had in its legacy, and it is the only chain with active development among the ones from the same family of chains, to my knowledge.

I'd also like to remark this interview with Crimsonclad talking about what happened during the complicated times before and after the split, and some considerations about the present, like about DAOs...

Also, maybe something funny in its transparency... @hivetoday's account on Mastodon was suspended on March 19th to become effective on March 20th (i.e. Hive's anniversary)... Apparently, the last piece of content published there was this one, where Jan Thomasewsky - the developer of Hive Debit Card prototypes and self-declared bitcoin maximalist - said in an interview for Deep Web3 Secrets that he also likes Monero and Hive, and also mentioned why he likes each of them: bitcoin he considers the future money, Monero he likes for its privacy, and Hive for its freedom.

I think the last piece was what Mastodon didn't want to see propagate, especially coming from a young bitcoin maxi with developer skills.

Marketing / Awareness / Branding

More Fantastic Results from Reddit

While Mastodon decided to ban hivetoday's account, we are doing great on Reddit.

1.1m views of Hive links on Reddit in a week is already another record I think (last month we had 2m views, so it must be a record or close to it).

@x-rain also shared a list of 10 underestimated subreddits.

Also, in what it probably was his first recording with voice on Hive, @acidyo shared his thoughts about Redditposh activity and curation.

Crim's Speech at Web3 Amsterdam

If you want to watch @crimsonclad's speech at Web3 Amsterdam, here it is, shared by @louis88.

Update on Hive Hackathon in Delhi

Last week I mentioned that I didn't found any report from the Hive Hackathon in Delhi. Well, I found one. @pravesh0 attended a Hive event for the first time right there, and shared his experience.

Well Planned Launch Date of the 20th Borehole in Ghana

20th borehole... March 20th... Hive anniversary. Actually, it seems its inauguration was on March 19th, so that the post may come out on March 20th.

A... Collection of Hive Development Contributions

At the 5-year anniversary of Hive, @thebeedevs published a list of their contributions to important projects for Hive. Among them, hAIve - the new AI-powered search engine they worked on, which you can test on a development version of Hive.blog they made public. Sadly, when I looked for "adrian's lenses" or anything related (found in titles, bodies, and tags of these and other posts), I didn't find any post of mine.

Automatic Market DCA on DSwap

DSwap introduced the possibility to automatically DCA for the token market on Hive-Engine. Basically, we are talking at this point about splitting a bigger order into smaller orders to be executed in multiple operations, at a given interval. Soon the same option will be introduced for diesel pools as well.

Do You Know the HiveWhale?

Older Hivers most likely do. Newer users might not, unless they've seen this post. HiveWhale is a fountain like a whale in a port of the Netherlands. And it sprays water if you pay it 1 HIVE or 1 HBD... You get a gif with the actual action as proof. And you can watch it in real-time.

Acidyo Interview at HIVE Thrive

He talks about curation (he also posted this), when would Holozing be launched (he think before Q3 the alpha version), and also about POSH.

Games

Rising Star Updates

Recently Rising Star released a Pawn Shop for your cards with luck on them. This week they also introduced "Hotel Buskeria", a hotel where fans check in a never leave (i.e. you can burn your cards with fans on them, in return for a card when you reach the top of the leaderboard for burned cards by fans).

Also. they removed the bonus packs for buying multiple packs (10 or 100).

And a few anniversary cards are available for the 5th anniversary of Rising Star.

Splinterlands Updates

It was a big week for Splinterlands this week with the launch of land 1.75, but we talked about that last week. These aren't the only updates that came on Tuesday, so here are the release notes.

Also, a Town Hall was held on Thursday, but I didn't have the chance to listen to it. By having a brief look at the post, apart from the releases from this week, in the eye candy section the focus seems to have been on the solo campaign for new players. It looks really good!

New Game Will Come to Hive

@hivetrending talks about Pizza and... Moon on Deep Web3 Secrets. Moon is a space colonization strategy game that is already playable in the final test universe of the game, but you'll need to log in with an email, not with Hive for this one, at least in this phase. I checked it out a few days ago, and it looks promising.

MoonKarts Airdrop

Players who purchased a significant number of MoonKarts packs received their promised promo card(s) airdrop. Here are the details.

Week in the Crypto World

Tornado Cash No Longer Sanctioned by the US

What I wonder is if they lifted the sanctions because they found a way to track the mixed transactions or because they had to. A judge ruled against the decision to sanction a protocol (Tornado Cash smart contracts) back in November, but the sanctions were only lifted now.

Oracle Taking a Minority Stake in TikTok...

... while the latter starts using Oracle Cloud services. This may be a precursor of a higher involved of Oracle in TikTok. Either that, or another American company joins them, and together they take a significant stake too.
