This is another performance from our library of live recordings. Telemann is perhaps best known as one of the most prolific composers in history, during his time he was considered one of the leading (if not THE leading) composers of the day. Both Handel and JS Bach ware a contemporaries and friends. Almost completely self taught in many instruments, he became a musician and composer against the wishes of his family who wished for him to become a lawyer. Despite his stunning career, he had a difficult personal life. His first wife died within a few months of marriage, and his second wife had a number of affairs and accumulated a large gambling debt before leaving him.
This Overture is the opening movement from the "La Bizarre" suite. The bizarre aspect of this movement is in the line of the 2nd violins. They are completely at odds with the rest of the orchestra, following a chaotic line that has absolutely nothing at all to do with the rest of the orchestra (on purpose this time!).
Telemann's Overture from the suite "La Bizarre" performed by Musica Poetica at the Paleiskerk in Den Haag in 2010.
We hope you enjoy our performance, and we are committed to bringing more of our music to Steem. However, due to the 7 day limit on rewards, we find that the music and video posts that we make are not able to be a continuing stream of support for us. Thus, if you enjoy this music please resteem us, share us around and make a donation!
