"One of my favorite colors is yellow. Yellow seems bursting with happiness and joy to me. And flowers themselves are so beautiful!! Because of the beauty and happiness I saw in this flower box arrangement, I want to share it here with my Steemian friends!!" @paradise-found

Magnificent Marigold
Marigold (AKA Tagetes) can be either annual or perennial, and is a member of the sunflower family. The genus is native to North and South America, but some species have become naturalized around the world.
Depending on the species, marigold foliage has a musky, pungent scent, though some varieties have been bred to be scentless. It is said to deter some common insect pests, hence often used in companion planting for tomato, eggplant, chili pepper, tobacco, and potato.
The florets of the Marigold are rich in the orange-yellow carotenoid lutein and are used as a food color in the EU for foods such as pasta, vegetable oil, margarine, mayonnaise, salad dressing, baked goods, confectionery, dairy products, ice cream, yogurt, citrus juice and mustard. In the USA, however, the powders and extracts are only approved as colorants in poultry feed.
