Red Candy Apples are perfect for a Halloween trick-or-trick bag as the bright red looks pretty bloody and very attractive to kids. These red candy apples are the best treat for Halloween and making them is quite easy.
Ingredients
- 8 apples
- 5 cups sugar
- 1 cup water
- 4 tablespoons honey
- 2 tsp vanilla/flavouring
- 2 tablespoons red food coloring
- 8 wooden skewers
Methods
- Wash and dry the apples well, then stick wooden skewers down into the apples about halfway through.
'2. Place the sugar, water, honey, and food flavoring in a saucepan and bring them to a boil over low heat, then leave to simmer until the caramel thickens slightly.
'3. Keep an eye on it, as the sugar melts and the mixture thickens pretty quickly.
'4. Prepare your dipping station.
'5. Once the mixture thickens, add the red food coloring, give it a stir, turn off the heat, then quickly dip the apples, tilting the pan for an even coating.
