Last week I visited a beautiful place in Gardone Riviera, on the Garda's Lake, Italy. It's the famous "Vittoriale degli Italiani".
It seemed to me to walk around a place without time, something between the history and myth.
The Vittoriale is a harmonious set of buildings, gardens, small rivers, ruins, columns, an open-air theater, paths, a Mausoleum, a rebuild war ship...
It was erected by the will of the poet/writer/soldier Gabriele D'Annunzio in memory of the poet himself and his great life and of the Italian soldiers during the WW1.
It reveals a celebration of the human heroism and also a bit of autoreference.
The complex itself was designed by Giancarlo Maroni and built between 1921 - 1938.
