African Sunset Photography
End of the day everything slowly quietens down to serenade night approaching, beams of light spread the last of the warmth sinking below the horizon. A special occasion most take time to enjoy, here are some spectacular sunsets.
Sailors refer to the yardarm when the sun has approached noon in the North Atlantic, in South Africa we refer to it when the sun does go down as Time for a sun-downer.
Time for happy hour to begin, perhaps in your garden, on a boat cruise in a lagoon or harbour, on the beach, your choice as to where to enjoy your sundowner's.
Blessed with lots of sunshine all year round, this term will be used especially in the warm season when everyone looks forward to the cool of evening, sitting outdoors watching the sunset, something we were brought up doing in our home before cooking the evening meal commenced.
A time for everyone to sit with a cold beer or cold-drink to watch the sun slowly setting, often chatting about events of the day. Habit's are hard to break, around the end of the day you will look to see if the sky is changing, many predict the weather from the mood of the skies above for the next day (especially fishermen and sailors).
After a wind swept day today, clouds floating around it is sure to be another dazzling show of the sun saying goodbye to the end of another day.
Change of the guard when day slips into night, sky may be painted with soft blushing colours or dazzling golden streams as sun-rays settle down.
