I'm back after a little bit of a hiatus from posting #songoftheday here on Steemit. Life happens, but today I'm back to share with you a song that by all rights should have been absolutely huge within the Techno universe if it wasn't for the pesky fact that it never had a real release.
When looking back on seminal electronic records from the 90s, Higher State of Consciousness stands out as something particularly special as it's emergence into the UK Top 10 wasn't on the backing of a pop vocal or catchy hook, but a pure all out rave energy that can take a night just a little further when you play it. Cut to many years later and this remix emerges, not as a official release, but as a track on the tail end of Josh Wink's Profound Sounds 3. Mathew Jonson does something that very few remixers can do well, which turn out a true reimagining of a song in a way that does justice to the original. It's a late night ear worm that I've been dying to play for years, but unfortunately it has only existed on that compilation in its mixed form. Mathew Jonson is easlly in my top 5 techno producers of all time and this remix is one of the reasons I've felt like that. Check it out and let me know what you think below.
