Rest in Peace - Meltdown Comics (1993 - 2018)

Just wanted to make a post to give praise to a comic book store I never even was able to go to, Meltdown Comics out in L.A. California.    It was such a big shop that Variety even wrote up a little piece on the store, however I suggest checking out a little more personal write up from Nerdist (whom hosted many a show out of the store).   For being a comic book store I had never visited, it was very sad to see it go as I have great memories of it thanks to so many comedians that I love having used the store as a back drop for shows.

Some personal praise and love for them not only comes from the comedy side which I enjoyed, but because of the respect for these guys for supporting the crypto world as well.    Crypto Collectibles was birthed out of the /r/Dogecoin in 2014, within that first month or so of starting received an email from Meltdown comics asking to maybe do some cross promotion as they wanted to get into selling books online via crypto.   I embarrassingly emailed them back and in not so many words ensured them at that point in time Crypto Collectibles just started and was not on their level (having checked that email again before making this post, because yes, I kept the email, and yes, in the reply I managed to make sure to tell them I loved them).

I know that was just some stupid email, but it was absolutely lovely to get because of how much I already appreciated this store without even knowing they were going to be getting into Dogecoin and Bitcoin.   To get an established name in any field to get into crypto is a big thing for all of us using these digital currencies and well... I just will miss this store I never got to visit.

Before "The Daily Show" or "Last Week Tonight" actually started to do segments on crytocurrencies, not as a butt of a Bitcoin punchline'd joke, but taking a serious look a things, there was a great comedy show called "Problematic with Moshe Kasher".   The show featured an awesome segment on Bitcoin that was filmed out of Meltdown also giving Bitcoin some credibility when it still didn't have it fully.   Enjoy:
