I came across a post by @aggroed entitled "A new era for Steem: Scotbot powered custom website up and running ! Welcome https://www.weedcash.network!"

This follows on from an announcement I saw a few days ago in which Aggroed states:
"Good news Steemians! You can now start your own community powered by Proof of Brain distribution! It took us a few months, but we've been able to build a smart contract platform, allow for token creation and trading, stake (power up) the tokens, distribute them using a customizable python voting bot modeled after the SMT white paper, and more is coming."
This appeared very interesting and I went to check out the first instance and to have a look around.
Logging on to weedcash.network was easy - just use Keychain and if you've not got it, seriously wtf? I am writing and posting this through the Weedcash Network interface, which is pretty much identical to steemit.com or smoke.io with a few modifications. Where it differs from Steem and resembles smoke.io is in the distribution of rewards - the split is 50-50. I love that this can be done and my experience on smoke.io tells me that this much better than the default 75-25 on Steem.

Little more to say. It seems that anything posted to the Weedcash ecosystem would also get posted to the Steem blockchain and posts on Steem with the tag 'weedcash' will get picked up by the WC network. On Weedcash the post payout appears in WEED tokens and on Steem payout for the same post appears as you'd expect, in Steem :). No hassle of creating an extra set of credentials, converting/trading crypto or any such mental taxation. I'm not certain how it works in terms of VP ie if this is kept as a separate tally from Steem. I would imagine that it would be distinct, for payout here is in WEED tokens and this must surely come from a separate rewardpool than the STEEM token! Please enlighten me if you're able.
I think we can expect many more of such communities - niche interests, businesses, working groups which may be open or closed - the 'we'reFuckedOff's, the 'we'reTheExclusiveBest's, the 'whateverWeWannaDo's etc.
This is great and potentially makes for a greatly expanded blockchain experience. It really opens it up. It makes for the possibility of an even greater range of expression as eco-systems will presumably establish their own cultures and taboos which may or may not be expressed on the 'mainstream' Steem blockchain. Voices that fear reprisals - or which may have been on the receiving ends of backlashes (and there are many) - might find airtime again. Of course, the ecosystems are 'subsets' as it were of the bigBroad Steem blockchain and nothing is hidden or separated out by default, although I guess that filters will become more sophisticated with time.

Just my initial thoughts splattered onto a post with an image or two to ride the theme ;D
Bring on Choice, bring on Option, bring on Multiplicity..... Nice One and Thanks to all the Developers (listed on announcement post), and also @richardcrill for blazing the first trail (ha ha pun intended :).
