Trees in every shape and size support our environment, our life is reliant on trees.
Why I personally love Tree Planting Day, it is one day of the year a thought goes out to future generations, Roots for Tomorrow morally we are required to preserve forests to ensure clean water, let's get dirty Arbor day has more meaning than is talked about.
Affording shade for undergrowth to flourish, deeply wooded areas are an attraction, each shaded area offering a variety of life beneath. Some trees reach for the skies, others develop into umbrella tops affording a forest great variety, an abundance of life.
Whilst competing for light, by design alone trees perform many different functions, we favour them for fruits, berries, medicinal properties. Nature requires them to keep soil healthy, rain drips through leaves dispersing evenly below affording everything some water.
Roots hold the earth together avoiding soil erosion, trees planted near to homes, quietly do their part in the eco-system keeping areas cooler, dropping leaves back down to the earth to re-nourish soil beneath, inviting wildlife back into a garden.
Preserving water quality in streams and ponds.
South Africa is not a heavily wooded area, forested areas are scarce much like water, making everyone more aware of how important tree planting is.
Wildlife attracts visitors to our country allowing more of our youth become employed into the tourist sector, be sure not to miss out this year, ask locally find where trees are being planted, join South African's getting up to the elbows in soil.
Arbor day may not be a public holiday in every country, many countries observe a day when everyone congregates to ensure the future generations will have sustainable living. Trees teach us we may be different in many ways, we need to work together planting new roots, nurturing low hanging fruits.
