The iPhone - the original mother of all Smartphones with Touch Screen, like we know them today.
It seems almost impossible to imagine a life without a smartphone nowadays - we have the ability to access the whole internet, contact our friends from all over the world, have access to our personal documents and emails via our phone, browse our music library or play advanced games, all on that little device.
For most of us, the smartphone might just be the most important and most used electronic device, and we have gotten so used to it that we take many features for granted!
10 years ago today, on January 9, 2007, Steve Jobs announced the very first iPhone.

And whether you are a Fan of Apple products or not - this day was almost a revolution in the tech world, it changed and inspired the whole world of mobile phones forever.
Back in 2007, Apple's iPod was one of the most popular electronic devices in the world.
Most people carried around a regular mobile phone (like the legendary motorola flip phone, who remembers those?!) and additionally an iPod, to listen to music.
But then in 2007, Steve Jobs presented the iPhone as “a widescreen iPod with touch controls, a revolutionary mobile phone and a breakthrough internet communications device.”
The first iPhone was a revolution - especially, since it had a multi-touchscreen display.
Other phones during that time might have had email or internet access (like blackberry, for example) but the iPhone replaced a physical keyboard / number pad with a simple and sleek touch screen.
That first model of the iPhone didn't even have 3G Internet, it only came with 4GB of memory space, you weren't able to copy/paste text, you couldn't change the background and you couldn't even take videos (only pictures, with a 2 MP camera!)
These specifications seem ridiculous compared to today's standards, but back then they were incredible.

Apple also introduced the concept of Apps as we know them and a grid layout on the home screen, although the App Store only launched in 2008, one year later.
In July 2008, Steve Jobs proudly announced that there were 800 different apps on the app store, created by independent developers - and today, we have a choice of over 2 million apps!
“It is amazing that from the very first iPhone through to today’s newest iPhone 7 Plus, it has remained the gold standard by which all other smartphones are judged. For many of us, iPhone has become the most essential device in our lives and we love it.”-Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing
The iPhone has come a long way - 11 different generations, different designs, screen sizes, colors, and of course improved processors, features, cameras and memory space.
In a press release about the 10-year anniversary, Apple CEO Tim Cook has stated:
“iPhone is an essential part of our customers’ lives, and today more than ever it is redefining the way we communicate, entertain, work and live. iPhone set the standard for mobile computing in its first decade and we are just getting started. The best is yet to come."-Tim Cook
