Nokia Remakes Its Oldschool Bestseller - With Snake And 1 Month Battery Life!

Currently, the Mobile World Congress (MWC) is being held in Barcelona, Spain.
The world's biggest smartphone companies are represented there, showing their newest products and innovative technologies.
But there was also one very different announcement, coming from Nokia.

Nokia has just released a re-make of its iconic Nokia 3310 phone!

The Nokia 3310 - the iconic, unbreakable, original mother of all phones! It's a reminder of those times when Nokia was still the leading supplier of the mobile phone industry.
I'm certain everyone reading this post either had one of these phones themselves, or knows somebody that had them!
It had a black and white screen, mobile data wasn't a thing yet, and of course there was no touchscreen, only physical keys.
And the highlight for all the kids was of course the most classic phone game of all time - SNAKE!

To refresh your memory, this is what the original Nokia 3310, released in 2000, looked like:

The 2017 version is slimmer and lighter, it features a 2,4 inch display and a 2 Megapixel camera.
There is no touchscreen and no apps, no GPS, no Wifi - but you can use a web browser for basic surfing.
But the biggest selling point is probably the incredible battery life.

The battery is supposed to last 25 days on a single charge, with a talk time of 22 hours!

Also, the price will only be around $50!

It will be released some time in the 2nd Quarter of this year.
The new 3310 comes in dark blue, grey, glossy red and glossy yellow, and you'll have the ability to put in your own micro SD card to extend the memory space.

And yes - Snake, the iconic game from the 2000's is back on there as well!

There have been rumours that the iconic 3310 might be coming back, but no one really believed it - until the surprise release yesterday at MWC.
The re-make comes after smartphone supplier HMD has acquired the rights of Nokias licenses, the company will release Nokia-branded smartphones from now on.

“There are a lot of legendary phone models in Nokia’s history. We thought long and hard about whether we should be bringing back a legend… and then we decided to remake the 3310.”

-J. Sarvikas, HMD Chief Product Officer

Of course, the specs of the 3310 could never be compared with a smartphone. But that's the whole point.
It will be a perfect phone for kids, for taking to a festival or to the beach - basically anywhere you need an indestructible phone that won't run out of charge!
