
When most people think of the words pineapple and basil, they don't necessarily see them together. I was at a local gelato shop and saw the combination being used in some sorbet. This is the point where a lot of people would cringe and say, "that's weird". This is the point where I said, "Oh shit I need to put that in my mouth, like now". Thank God I did because the pairing is heavenly. This may not be the most aesthetically pleasing smoothie but it is definitely one of my favorites.
Ingredients:
1/2 of a pineapple peeled, cored, and diced.
1/4 cup of basil.
1 cup of plain Greek yogurt.
6 ice cubes.
1/2 cup of almond milk (I used a "sweetened" coconut variety).
2 tablespoons of agave nectar (if you don't have this feel free to sub in honey, a couple dates, or some white sugar.)
Directions:
- Pack basil tightly into the bottom of your blender.
- Add the remaining ingredients into blender and blend until smooth.
You should end up with two large servings. Share one with a friend.
