Los meses del año en la lengua de señas a nivel mundial, tiene una connotación basada en la experiencia de la escuela histórico cultural, de la que nos habla el psicólogo clínico Ruso Leiv Seminov Vigotsky (1896 - 1934) quien hizo grandes aportes a la educación especial para los sordos. Él señala que el lenguaje tiene una función social, incluyendo por supuesto la función primordial, que es la de comunicar.

En el caso particular de los meses del año, vemos que construyeron las señas tomando como referencia concreta las estaciones del año, y los eventos temporales que se celebran en su entorno por mes del año.
