The battle of Cinco de Mayo
This weekend sees the super-fight between the the top two Mexican warriors Canelo Alvarez and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. This will be fought at a catchweight, and its the highest weight class that Canelo has fought at. For Chavez the opposite it true - it'll be the lightest weight he has fought at.
The Cinco de Mayo weekend is huge in Mexico, and Las Vegas will be buzzing this weekend at the T-Mobile Arena where the bout is scheduled.
Let battle commence
The bookies have Canelo as the short favourite, but I believe this fight will be a lot closer than people anticipate. After the weigh-in Chavez will pile on the weight to bully Canelo in the ring, and with a new trainer he looks a mean fighter.
Canelo is the classier fighter and is a more polished boxer overall, but I think Chavez has the weight advantage to make this competitive. Some say Canelo will be fresher at 164.5lbs and will avoid the punches better than Chavez.
I also think if the fight goes to the later rounds, that Chavez will come into his element as per the battle with Andy Lee. He punched so strong on the inside down the home straight in that fight, and I was super impressed.
I don't think Canelo will have the strength to hold off Chavez, and he'll use this to his advantage with grabbing and clinging I'm sure.
As for my prediction, I'm going to go for the upset and predict Chavez will win here. He is naturally the bigger man and game as f*&! I think the catchweight will work to his advantage better than Canelo.
I predict Chavez to WIN BY SPLIT DECISION over 12 rounds.
