STEEM-APOCALYPSE SURVIVAL GAME CONTEST – Day 5 Round 1 – 325 STEEM Prize Pool So Far

Six teams are fighting infections and battling it out for survival!

In our last round, the teams had an opportunity to find a way to clear up their infections and get a meal. However, there was no guarantee that they would choose correctly. Let’s see what the options were and how the teams chose.

DAY 4 ROUND 2 RESULTS

The options ranged from deadly to edible, and some even offered antibacterial properties. Though not all teams cured their infections, thankfully, at least no one died this round.

Option 1 – Check the beehive and eat any honey that is found inside.

Though there was not a bee to be seen, this hive had once been active. Amazingly, the hive had an ample amount of honey inside. The teams who chose this option got a good amount of nutrition and will be blessed by the healing properties of the honey, so there infections should be clearing up shortly. Here are the teams that chose this option.

  • THE KIWIS will need to eat before the end of Day 6 (gameplay).
  • THE KIWIS have a 2 day backup food supply.

@nepd

  • TEAM PATRIOT will need to eat before the end of Day 6 (gameplay).
  • TEAM TATRIOT has a 4 day backup food supply.

Option 2 – Eat the plant with the triangular purple flowers.

This interesting plant with the Purple Flowers is a Spiderwort. It is a wild edible and has been used medicinally, but it has no antibacterial properties that I am aware of. The teams that chose this option were able to fill their bellies, but their infections will persist.

@daveks & @cognoscere

  • All members of FOO(D) FIGHTERS have wounds that are sore and swollen.
  • FOO(D) FIGHTERS will need to eat before the end of Day 6 (gameplay).
  • FOOD(D) FIGHTERS have a 2 day backup food supply.

@rahul.stan & @iamsgr

  • All Members of this team have wounds that are sore and swollen.
  • THE HURRICANE will need to eat before the end of Day 6 (gameplay).
  • THE HURRICANE has a 2 day backup food supply.

Option 3 – Eat the familiar looking plant.

This familiar looking plant looks familiar because the teams came across it the other day. It is Poison Hemlock, and, once again, the teams all passed on it.

Option 4 – Eat the plant that looks like Wild Garlic.

Wild Garlic may not be the best “meal”, but in a survival situation it can provide nutrition and it also has some great antibacterial properties as well. This plant looked like Wild Garlic because it was Wild Garlic. One team chose to eat the Wild Garlic and will soon have their infection clearing up.

@herpetologyguy

  • Team ZOOKEEPER will need to eat before the end of Day 6 (gameplay).
  • Team ZOOKEEPER has a 4 day backup food supply.

Option 5 – Skip a potential meal and deal with the infection later. Just get moving instead of trying to eat.

One team chose to just continue on the path and pass on these opportunities. The chance to clear up the infections was missed, but they had enough food to keep them fed.

@verbal-d & @happyharmonymay

  • All members of Team SOULMATES have wounds that are sore and swollen.
  • Team SOULMATES will need to eat before the end of Day 5 (gameplay).
  • Team SOULMATES have a 2 day backup food supply.

DON’T WE NEED WATER AT SOME POINT?

DAY 5 ROUND 1

Water is a necessity whether you are in a survival situation or not. To make the round by round gameplay easier, I’ve chosen to mostly focus on food and safety. However, because water is a real need and this is a survival game, I’ll periodically insert a hydration round to further simulate a real survival situation. Here the situation today.

The teams are full at the moment, but they are very thirsty. Their tongues are sticking to the roofs of their parched mouths and even breathing has become painful. The carcass-filled water on the other side of town is probably miles away. It is not like any of these teams would want to drink it anyway.

Up ahead is a small supply of water. Our teams will not be able to transport any water, and have nothing to catch steam with either, but they do have a magnifying glass with which they can start a fire to try to boil it if they want to. They will have to successfully find a way to safely drink the water, but they have some concerns.

For one, there is a slight chemical smell to the water. It is not so pungent that the teams think a chemical or toxin in the water will kill them, but who knows? Also, it appears like some sort of bacteria or virus is in the water. These are two different potentially life-threatening issues, so care and caution should be exercised. Safe ways to drink this water exist, but will the teams figure out what they are?

OPTIONS

I’ll provide four options for the teams which they can choose from. Best wishes everyone. You must drink some water today in order to continue.

  • Option 1 – Drink the water as is, straight from the source.

  • Option 2 – Boil the water like crazy and then let it cool and drink it.

  • Option 3 – Bring the water to a boil for just a second and then let it cool to drink.

  • Option 4 – Almost bring the water to a boil, and maintain the temperature just below boiling for 30 minutes prior to allowing it to cool for drinking.

TEAM RESPONSIBILITY

Please try your best to have your choice in a reply to this post within the next 24 hours. You have four options, 1-4, so discuss your choice and choose wisely!
