It was an entire economy. Just as sell offs in US bonds signal a loss of faith in the US monetary policy and overall resulting economy. Steempower is like a piece of the Steemit network and that Network represents not just the data on the blockchain but the ecosystem of users buying/selling/earning/mining Steem and working on Steem related projects. Steemfest showed just how excited people are to build on top on Steem. I just saw a commercial about how Facebook is going to beam the internet down from drones in 3rd world countries. That's great Facebook. But we still are going to get them to join Steemit .They need some way to make money on top of the Facenet.
