STEEMit: Original Content Contests! Working Out The Details...

So what should be our first community contest? Let's work out details!

So we can rule the Internet if we get great original content. I wrote about original content contests here. One great way to enhance contributions is to hold contests so we can focus our attention on threads and recruit outsiders to participate. All we need is a topic, rules and a deadline and we can make these contests recurring Steemit events. We can publicize them to various outlets. Another great aspect about contests is that you don't have to vote immediately. You can wait for all the contributions to come in and vote at the end. In the future we can hold contests on original art, music, essays, movies, poems, education and you name it. Since we're still new, I think most of the contests would probably be Steem-related.

Some examples can be:

  1. Best original Steemit ads/memes
  2. Best original Steemit videos
  3. Best Steemit original art
  4. Best Steemit tutorial/infographics
  5. Best Steemit business strategy
  6. Best Steemit startup idea
  7. Craziest place I promoted Steemit (w/ pics)
  8. Best Steemit slogans/pitches/messages
  9. Best Steemit marketing outreach stories (w/ evidence)
  10. Best personal story about Steemit?
    …. what else?

To attact readers/content creators if we look at the popular categories on the right panel as a start, we have for non-steem categories:

  1. Crypto-news - Best general crypt startup idea?
  2. Politics - Best political essay? Caricature? Insight?
  3. Photography - Best photo (natural landscape? Unusual?)
  4. Bitshares – Best new Bitshares feature/worker proposal?
  5. News – Best exclusive breaking news? Best exclusive scandal/whistleblower story? Best local news story?
  6. Technology – Best new startup?
  7. Beyondbitcoin – Best fuzzy interview/AMA guest/Mumble?
  8. Gardening – Best gardening tips? Pictures? How-to's?
  9. Cannabis – Best cannabis trip story?
  10. Funny – Joke/Meme/Photo
… what else would be good?

We can also look outside these categories and try contests such as:

  1. Most useful lifehack?
  2. Most useful educational tutorial..
  3. Most interesting personal story...
  4. Most interesting travel blog..
.... what else what would be good?

We should make sure the content is exclusive and original … July 4th would a good deadline for a final vote for many of these contests.... it would be good to have some time to attract contributors.. should we focus on a few contests to test them out? Should we try many at the same time? How often would you like to see them? Which categories? What should be the rules? Anyways just opening it up for discussion...
