For almost over a month, Steemfollower was down. The Steemfollower website has said that they are undergoing some maintenance and some major improvements to the site is to be expected after they are done. The newly improved version is to be released by next week as the creator of Steemfollower, @mahdiyari (who also happens to be the creator of Steemauto) have said in his latest blog post. The old version is however now accessible at https://old.steemfollower.com/, while the new updated version is still on the process of being done.

To those of you who haven't heard of Steemfollower, it is somewhat a promotional upvote system that lets you promote your blog posts to other users by upvoting others content. Despite sounding like an upvote for an upvote system, it is NOT. Users still get to decide whatever they deem to be upvoteable or not. It is still manual curation. All Steemfollower does is give your post "more visibility" via their point system.
The concept is simple. Whenever you cast a vote, you get corresponding points which is base on your voting strength or Effective Steem Power. When you receive a vote, you will lose some of those points.
As an example, a plankton like me who has around 80 Steem Power. Whenever I cast a vote on someone, I will get around 55-80 points per vote. As seen below, since I have 917Points atm, Steemfollower will keep my latest post visible until I receive around $0.1225 cumulutive upvote value from others.
Since Steemfollower now has over 14k users, one would expect that their post will most likely just drown or be covered up by others content. Well that could likely happen. However, Steemfollower has a way for that. Whenever you reach a certain amount of points, say 1000 points. You can now enable the Promotion button. What this small button do is, it lets you pin your latest post up on top of other users post for more visibility and thus a chance to get more upvote.
It will most likely look like the one below, with other normal posts after the somewhat "pinned" posts.
An Important note from Steemfollower:
In order to keep your latest post visible, you need to at least upvote others content at least 5 times per day and you can't see and upvote your own post.
One problem, a plankton and a minnow have on Steem is getting visibility. No matter how impressive or how good you think your content is, it won't matter if no one is there to see and read it. With the help of some promotional upvote system like Steemfollower, this will at least give you some chance to get more visibility and some upvotes while still on the process of creating a name for yourself.
