Seven days ago @heimindanger introduced DTube. I noticed the induction post and bookmarked it for later reading. I finally got around to reading it today. You can read it here: Introducing DTube: a decentralized video platform using STEEM and IPFS
My first thoughts were that I could post some @zoee videos! Awesome! I did that today. Just one of her playing with her favorite toy. You can find it on steemit.com and on DTube.
My second thoughts on Dtube weren't so nice. I found @chainflix being discussed in several channels on steemit.chat and a few Discord servers.
While I haven't personally found any I have also heard of users downloading videos from YouTube and uploading them as their own on DTube.
To me this is unacceptable to have in our community.
I am publicly asking users not to up-vote obviously stolen content! This currently doesn't fall under @steemcleaners or @spaminator scopes of abuse. I'm not sure how much support either group would receive at this moment for discouraging this behavior. The community can help by voicing your opinion on the topic here and resteem!
I want to see DTube succeed. It's a great idea and I look forward to using it myself. Don't let others ruin it!
As many of you know I'm swamped and have little time to address some of the issues I find. I think that this needs to be addressed. When I find time I will be checking posts like the one above and asking users via a comment mention on the post to consider the impact on steemit.com and Dtube. It will be a public appeal for them to remove their vote.
I encourage established members of the community that have enough SP & Reputation to not worry about retaliation to do the same. Just make sure that it is actually stolen content. We don't want an innocent bystander to get accused.
Project Updates & Personal Notes
@spaminator is announcing a logo contents: Introducing 'The Spaminators' Logo Contest - Steemits Spam Fighters
@spaminator supporters held an impromptu 'flag party' the last couple of days with the help of @stellabelle. They did a great job of removing payouts from some bot comment posts close to payout.
@steemcleaners is a year old! There have been many changes here on Steemit. I'll be writing new posts to update the community on the abuse covered by Steemcleaners in the coming weeks. I'll also find time to write a post on how and where to report abuse.
I'll be busy the next two days with personal matters. My friend is in the ICU because of an allergic reaction. He's expected to make a full recovery and be home in a day or two.
Thanks for the support everyone. You are all appreciated!
