My fellow Steemians, being of a calm and peaceful nature, I believe in forgiveness and giving people second chances. Being a great admirer of Gandhi, I think that living positively is good for karma. However, there's been quite an increase in spamming activity on Steemit lately, which made me reconsider my position on the matter. I've had a few spams in my posts so far, nothing too harmful I thought. I politely replied to those comments to edit their posts, but to no avail. Spammers aren't even reading the posts they spam, nor the replies to their spammy comments.
Today was the last straw, I got the same spam TWICE in a row on my post (the screenshot is grey because I already flagged those comments).
So I decided to shift into Gandhi II mode:

I started to check those spammers blogs, and in particular their /comments. And boy what did I discover! These people have no sense of shame whatsoever, they spread their identical comments all over the place. In my investigation, I found that many of the bloggers I follow were also being spammed. Spammers were mainly targeting the Top 6 categories on Steem. Why, because that's where the money is.
If you happen to use those tags, be prepared to be in the cross-hairs of spammers.
I went to the @steemcleaners and started reporting those abusers. From now on, I'll show no mercy. These people should understand that what they inherited from FB will not be tolerated here. Serious people are writing serious blogs, and we don't need spammers and/or their bots to flood us with their crap.
If you are being spammed, check their /comments on their blog, if you see a repetitive pattern, don't hesitate to flag/downvote them. If you don't want to waste your Voting Power, report to the @steemcleaners, they have enough power to take care of business.
