Sometimes I feel like the wise old Grandpa passing along stories of a long lost world. The past five years on social media have been utterly spectacular. I have seen platforms come from nowhere and dominate. I have also seen giants stumble while other promising attempts outright close shop.
There is one piece of all this that continues to reign true on every social media platform. Early adopters have a huge advantage! Right now what we are seeing on steemit is one more opportunity to build something amazing. You yes you are possibly part of something that will be world changing.
Now I admit that I said this with other platforms as well but it does not make it any less true. I stumbled big time with Tsu. I invested 5 strong years into Google Plus and only have 100K followers to show for it plus verified Google Plus and Youtube accounts.
You see I have been called a fool many times over from pundits on social media. Some have said, "Randy you are reckless and should not use your personal brand so freely."
Let me make one thing clear, the first few months of a new platform are the fertile ground where future connections will be born. Just in the last week I have connected with some amazing people on steemit that I have never known on social media before. Some of these people are ones I have admired for a long time and others are just amazing content creators.

The Future Community of Steemit
Since I have been down this road many times before I want to give you a glimpse of the future community of steemit. People are inherently tribal. After the excitement settles people on steemit will find their tribes and settle down into their comfort zone. They will no longer venture out and upvote, comment or share the content of people unlike themselves.
Is this a bad thing? No I do not think it is but I will say that you might have the biggest opportunity of your life before you right now.
Freely Follow Other Users on Steemit
In the beginning of a platform there is so much excitement in the community. Similar to any relationship we can not see any wrong in the other person. This is a good thing because frankly some of you will not see me for the ass hole I really am. Bwahahaha
In the future of steemit I imagine the feed will become more important. Think of Facebook or Twitter where most people enjoy a feed of the people they follow. I am already using my feed on steemit and my guess is that you will use it more as well.
How does ones content get into the feed of another user? It is pretty simple actually. That person must follow the other person.
Social Media Tip #2 Connect
Take time every day and start following other users on steemit. At this current time it does not matter if someone does not follow you back. Be the one who takes the first step to follow. At this current time on steemit the follow function is still an under utilized feature that will grow in importance.
"But Randy I don't want to follow users that I am not interested in." I am not saying you have to do this, but if you are here because someday you would like to be a steemit Whale then you should do it. Not everyone is here because they want to build an online dynasty. I respect those of you who just want to watch, but you guys are not the ones I am speaking to.
I am in the group of users who put great value on my personal brand. Like I mentioned in my prior posts your personal brand online can be taken anywhere. Imagine growing a personal brand for 20 years online. What would your audience look like?
Steemit is just one more property online where you can build an amazing presence and connect with amazing humans. Sure some of them might end up being distasteful, untrustworthy trolls but social media is just a mirror of society. Just unfollow and move on.
Simply Follow Steemit Users Every Day.
Your social media follower accounts on the surface mean very little but in the grand scope of things they mean everything. If you make a specific widget and you have 100 followers and only 1,000 people in the world care that is 10% of the market. The numbers are relative but do the best you can to find those who might care about what you offer.
