Steemit Social Media Analysis for April 2017.

Analysis Taken from Similar Web for Steemit, Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest.

According to our metrics that I shared in my last post Steemit performance breakdown a few months back we are continuing to improve in almost every metric.

Visitors are up.
Time on site is up.
Page Views are up.
Bounce Rate is down. This is a good thing.

These are all very good signs for the Steemit platform.

I like to remind the community that our success greatly depends on the traffic that the site brings via search and social media. This is where we as a community can really help out. What can you do?

  1. Format your articles to help the search engines index posts easier.
  2. Properly title your posts. Short and too the point is best with a key word or two mixed in.
  3. Use your allocated 5 tags properly.
  4. Share your content to as many social media sites as possible.
  5. Comment on other users content.
  6. Follow other users.

Steemit.com Traffic Overview.

The traffic for Steemit continues to improve especially in Search. Direct traffic is up slightly. Social media traffic is down. A few months back we began to share all content to Twitter, Google Plus, Pinterest and Facebook using Buffer shortened links. This could explain why we have lost a percentage from social and gained in direct traffic. Also if users are reading Steemit articles using apps on a mobile phone it will count as direct traffic even though they pass through a Buffer link.

Social Media Breakdown by the Numbers.

The big takeaway that I see is that Twitter traffic has doubled while Facebook has lost a third. This tells me that the community is not doing its part in sharing the content to Facebook. I have been seeing this in the Steemit Facebook groups as well. People are just not sharing there as much as they used to.

It also tells me that the Twitter campaign is working. More and more influencers who join Steemit also have Twitter accounts. Since we can be classified as a news site Twitter is well suited for our content. We also added large Twitter card images a few months ago and the added clicks could be a result of that but I do not have any hard evidence since Twitter does not supply any.

What Can We Do To Improve?

  1. Share your content all over social media. You help our light shine across the web and bring more people who are not already users to the website.
  2. Properly optimize your posts for SEO (Search Engine Optimization). That includes your images.
  3. Be consistent in your blogging. Search engines like consistent content production.
  4. Search engines love it when they can categorize sites according to the types of content they share. Currently we are doing great in subjects like crypto currencies, travel and food.

Good job everyone we are really making strides as a community.
