last weekend we celebrated Memorial Day with our Colorado Steemit crew. We had initially planned on hitting the great Sand Dunes, but because it was a 3-day weekend, campsites were hard to come by. We ended up making a reservation at Cow Creek South in the White River National Forest area.
We arrived on Friday night and camped through Monday morning. This was a beautiful location, and we had a great group of people that decided to attend. I will say that we were one of the only campsites that set up tents. Most people who camped at this site had huge RVs. On the negative side, there was not a lot of privacy at the campsite . Our site was rated for 20 people, which was a joke as we had a tough time finding room for our group's five tents.
The sites had zero shade or trees, and around 5:00 each night, we got a crazy wind storm.
I would not book another campout at this site unless we had an RV to stay in due to the lack of shelter from the wind and sun.

R.I.P. shade canopy. The wind destroyed this canopy on day 2 of our campout and almost carried off @intuitivejakob in the process.

This is a fort we found in the woods while we were hiking.
