The Little Library @drpuffnstuff and I built and cadged up books for and installed in a laundry room in Pacific City, Oregon.
@drpuffnstuff wanted to donate a library that advertised Steemit.com. He posted a Steemgig, and I'm a big fan of reading, and a carpenter, so I obliged.
What I like most about the project, other than making stuff, which I like, and books, which I like a lot, is that he and I became a voluntary public service. The Little Library is in the laundry room of the Pacific City Trailer Park, where folks doing laundry might just get bored from time to time, and check out a book.
It thrills me just to have had a hand in doing something that might be useful to people for decades! Who knows, after the apocalypse, this particular library (in a concrete structure that can survive mighty cataclysms) could be the only remaining source of printed material, and spark the reinvention of civilization as reading and writing is passed down from generation to generation of survivors.
I hope not. I hope a few people get bored doing laundry, and take up reading to pass the time, and enjoy it enough to do it in front of their kids, who take it up, and invent something cool, like anti-gravity, or a way to mine unobtainium from asteroids.
Anyway, it was fun, and I'd be happy to do it again =)
