Recently I was nominated for the Steemit name challenge by the lovely @hanen in this post. I have read some posts for this challenge and it was so interesting to hear the story behind the names such as @guarddog, @whack.science, @karensuestudios - to name a few.
Even though my story is not that interesting, I still want to share it. :)
When I found out about Steemit almost 14 months ago, I liked the idea so much and I was so excited to join in. At that time you didn't have to wait to get approved, the registration would be done right away.
I don't even remember clearly which one I tried first, I think it was Nina. Nina is my nickname and that's how most people call me. I also thought it would be easy for people to remember, but I guess the name was already taken, haha.
Then I was thinking about adding some other word with Nina, something travel related because that is one of my favorite things in the world. But I also had no idea what other things I would like to share on Steemit and which direction I would go for so I gave up on that idea.
At that point I was already getting impatient to be a member of the Steemit community so I was like "I'm just going to put my name" and be done with it. Since there was only few people from my country on this platform back then, I thought that even though my name is not that special, it would be unique in some way. Another good thing is that it would suit no matter what my blog is about.
If I could change my Steemit name, I would probably choose Nina for the same reasons I mentioned above. But I'm also happy with @nikolina! :) Some people asked me what is my real name so for those of you who maybe still have some doubts, Nikolina is my real name.
