@steemph.cebu's Giving of Gifts, Love, Hope, and Inspiration

The Gift of Giving conducted by @steemph.cebu yesterday was definitely a blast. This act of kindness is more than just a philanthropic deed that could satisfy their physical needs. It was a gift of Love, Inspiration, and Hope that they will carry for the rest of their lives.

Before the program even started, I had the chance to talk with some of the family beneficiaries.

I was quite surprised to know that all of the chosen families have numerous children dependents. There was this little girl, about 8 years old, who really caught my attention. When I asked about the number of siblings she have, I noticed how she became teary-eyed while answering that there are ten of them. I don't have any idea about the things she's going through but I can feel how much it affected her. Just imagine, with that very young age, she seems to be undergoing a lot already.
(I became so caught up with the moment that I never bothered taking a photo of her)

On the other hand, this is Kuya Ian and Baby Princess. I saw these two kids at the toilet when the older brother, Ian, helped her baby sister in fixing her pants after urinating. Yes, he was fixing her pants outside the toilet. I was at the corner observing the two lovable kids. It melted my heart when I saw how Ian cared for Princess. He just kissed the forehead of his younger sister and wiped her sweaty face using his shirt. I approached them to have a little chitchat. Ian, a ten-year old kid has six siblings. Mind you, he's the eldest! Princess is a four-year old kid, and she's the fourth child in their family. I discovered later that the mother whom I talked to lately that day carrying a month-old child is their mother.

Know what, I realized something that night. More than anything, I believe those families need to be educated about Family Planning. With the help of @steemph, @steemph.cebu, and our fellow Steemians, I am confident conducting such information drive will be attainable considering the success of World Food Day and Gift of Giving. Giving something that could benefit them for longterm is a good idea to note.

Overall, I really enjoyed talking with the kids. I can feel how happy and thankful they are that night, and I am more than happy to be one of the contributors of such Happiness. I may have not talked to all of them, but I always depart the ones I talked with these words: "Skwela ug tarung ha, ayaw pabadlong sa imong Mama ug Papa". (Study hard and always listen to your parents).

The program concluded with a solemn heart-making.

For me, it implies that we, the millennials, are the light of this new generation. You might see us being so caught up with technology, but we, particularly the Steemian Millenials are taking advantage over such technology in order to earn not just for ourselves but also for others.

Sharing our time, effort, and some SBD’s with the little that we have made a great impact in others’ lives this Christmas.

I had the chance to meet fellow Steemians from Cebu as well! Though it was my first time attending @steemph.cebu event, I really had fun getting to know my fellow Steemians especially @junebride @julsmlz @fernwehninja @jaderpogi and others. There were no dull moments being with these newly-found friends!
