I have a bit of an unorthodox #steemsilvergold post to make today. As I mentioned in yesterday's article , we have dyed several organic fabric shirts with plants. At first I was not sure what pigments and shades to expect, or in one instance even which color. I was extremely surprised to see that our first three color pigments from herbal dying came out to be copper, silver, and gold, which also represent the three most commonly traded precious metals throughout history, especially in the ancient world, which is fitting because these are definitely ancient dying processes.
When we dyed with cutch, it was a pre-processed organic plant powder we purchased online, that was very expensive by the way. I knew that the color would turn out brown on the shirts since @hempress has used the dye powder before, however I had no idea what shade of brown it would be. I was pleased to see a tarnished copper color appear on the fabric. This first color will be a perfect base for what is to come of these shirts after we finish dying them...
We used blackberries for the second dye-bath. The blackberries produced a silver-steel tone color on the fabric, which I was also pleasantly surprised by. This is my favorite color so far, probably because I love silver so much.
For the last dye-bath we just finished this morning, we used all the leaves, leafy shoots, and pods from the blackberry plant (basically everything but the berries). We were hoping to achieve an earthy green color from this, however what we achieved instead was even more astonishing.
Behold our golden organic T-shirts! We produced the color tones of copper, silver, AND gold totally by accident. Not only that, but we now have the knowledge and skill required to achieve the same results again. Who thought a blackberry plant would produce silver and gold pigment dye-baths!? Absolutely amazing!

And of course I cannot forget to rep the #steemsilverround with my custom (steem) silver shirt... ehhem, the shirt is close to completion but not quite yet done. Watch my blog for updates in the next couple of weeks to see what the end results of these shirts will be.

Do not forget that my debut concious Hip-Hop album, The Hex Wrecker is completely free for download on Bandcamp and Soundcloud (click the links to go to my music on those platforms), or CLICK HERE for download instructions.
