Product Details
Perth Mint continues their successful Australian Koala series with a new design for 2018. The first year in the series to feature .9999 purity, this release is sure to continue the series' rich tradition of success.
This year's issue has a limited mintage of 300,000 coins, making them much more collectible as a bullion coin.
Coin Highlights:
Contains 1 oz of .9999 fine Silver.
Each coin comes in a protective plastic capsule.
Mintage cap of 300,000 coins.
Eligible for Precious Metals IRAs.
Obverse: Ian Rank-Broadley likeness of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the monetary denomination.
Reverse: Portrays a koala sitting on the branch of a eucalyptus tree surrounded by gum leaves. The inscription "Australian Koala", The Perth Mint's "P" mintmark, the 2018 year-date, and the .9999 purity are also featured in the design.
Sovereign coin backed by the Australian government.
When early European settlers first encountered koalas in Australia, they thought the tree-climbing animals were monkeys or bears. Even though they're still referred to by some as "koala bears", they're actually marsupials like kangaroos and wombats.
Koalas have special physical characteristics that complement their tree-dwelling lifestyle. They're able to grip branches and pick eucalyptus leaves with their two opposable digits, and their tough skin and sharp claws provide traction in climbing. They even have extra thick fur on their seat so they can sit comfortably on branches for hours! Unique to Australia, these animals are a perfect theme for an iconic coin series.

Question:
➩ "Why don't you take the silver coin out to photograph them?
Answer:
1 - It is sealed to protect the silver from tarnish - why would I open it and expose them to acid, grease, and moisture? Besides, I do not want to have to open it and then reseal it.
2 - Showing them "as received" provides you more information than showing them after opening them. This additional information is helpful to some - the coins and rounds were packaged differently - you'll see in posts in the future weeks of silver that I bought from them.
