The Demon, the witch and a teenage vampire. (Vampire Eloim book 3) part 2
Eloim sat in his room, a copy of Vogue in front of him which he flicked through without taking notice. He was still angry that his father was refusing to do anything about getting Polly back. With a look of disgust, he lifted the amulet that Amanda had insisted he wear at all times and studied it. It was far too large and made of gold; it didn’t go with any outfit he had. With disdain he pulled it off and threw it onto the floor.
“You need to be wearing that, brother, especially if you want to come find the witch.” Lisa said.
Eloim looked up and saw his sister standing in the doorway, holding a large old book, a big grin on her face.
“What witch?” Eloim asked sullenly.
“The one mentioned in this book, the one that travelled into the demon realm and back, the one that may be able to help us get Polly back.” Lisa hurried over to where Eloim sat and placed the book before him. “I found a passage in here that tells of her being able to pass between realms. There is a little problem with her not liking other vampires but we can work something out.”
“Other vampires?” Eloim asked putting the copy of Vogue aside so he could inspect the book. “She’s one of only a handful of vampire witches. Well she was a powerful witch that was turned into a vampire during some witch hunt in Spain centuries ago, so she’s even rarer. Most of our witches are vampires that turned to witching, so I bet she’s really powerful because she did it the other way round.” Lisa said.
“Is that a real term?” Eloim asked. “Do witches go around witching?”
“How would I know, dancers go round dancing so maybe. Anyway that’s not important; at least we now have somewhere to start.” Lisa said.
“We have to go to Spain and get her to help us, I’ll start packing.” Eloim said excitedly.
“Not so fast little brother, we need to make a proper plan. Father is going to be watching you like a hawk, just waiting for you to run off. Karla is working on a way we can all slip out without being noticed for a few hours, to give us a head start. Now put your amulet back on, we need to act as if we’re obeying our father’s orders.” Lisa said quietly, picking the book back up. “We’re off to Spain,” she added with an eager grin.
“Listen Eloim, if we are doing this, you need to disguise yourself. Do you not realise you’re famous?” Karla said as she sat down.
“Me, famous, what do you mean?” Eloim said with a comical expression of surprise on his face.
“You need to start going online for more than shopping, brother. The Vatican have you in their ‘Top Ten Most Wanted Fiends’ list because of your part in destroying their cathedral and that’s just for starters. The demons and imps are all looking for you because there is a large reward for any information on your whereabouts. Your Demon Empress wants you real bad; the city is ringed by demons and imps wanting a glimpse of you. Our brothers are having great fun hunting down any that are stupid enough to come within our borders though.” Karla answered.
“So basically what you are saying is the whole world wants me dead?” Eloim’s amused surprise turned to shock. Karla smiled and spun her laptop around so Eloim could see the screen.
“Not quiet, you’re a hit on social media; your fan page on Fiend Friends has thousands of followers.”
“The youth of the underworld see you as an icon against the old ways. There are creatures following your style. I saw a picture of a bogyman in a corset and high heels on there the other day. Can you imagine what it takes for a bogyman to come out of the closet like that?” Lisa spoke from Eloim’s wardrobe where she was looking for an outfit to borrow.
Both Eloim and Karla gave her a disapproving look.
“OK sorry, not funny but I couldn’t resist the closet bit.” Lisa apologised. “You got this red and purple corset in any other sizes, like one for someone with a bust?”
“Listen Eloim if you step foot out of here in your own clothes, we won’t get to the end of the street before you’re noticed. To save Polly, we need you to dress out of character so you won’t be recognised.” Karla said. “We’ve got you some stuff to put on, so go and get changed.”
As Eloim went to change, Karla stood up and began inspecting Eloim’s boot collection. Behind the screen she could hear Eloim grumbling and then he started sobbing as he changed into the outfit she had chosen for him.
“Hurry up will you Eloim, oh and I’m borrowing a few pairs of boots for Spain.” Karla said as she picked up a pair of chunky biker style boots and inspected them. The sole was ridiculously thick and a number of skull shaped buckles decorated them. Checking the size, she sat down to put them on. “As I ruined my best boots coming to get you from that tower, you owe me a few pairs. I think I’ll take these and a couple of pairs of heels.”
Eloim stepped out from behind the screen, a stricken look on his face. “Please, I can’t wear this in public, Karla.” Karla and Lisa both looked at him. He was dressed in a baggy hooded top with baggy blue jeans finished off with a pair of white trainers.
Lisa walked over and shrugged. “That’s not quite right,” she said and pulled the jeans down about four inches. “That’s better.”
She then picked up a baseball cap off the table and placed it on his head and pulled the hood up over it.
“What the hell is with jeans so low, my bum’s sticking out?” Eloim wailed.
“It’s how the human teenagers wear them, it’s the fashion.” Lisa said.
“Lisa, you’re my sister and I love you, but if you ever mention fashion or style and what I’m wearing in the same sentence again I’m gonna bite you.” Eloim said in disgust. “And what is this stupid image on the front of this top?”
“That’s the designer logo, shows it’s a top brand.” Lisa answered, smiling up at her brother. “We wouldn’t dress you in anything not designer branded.”
“What’s the name of the designer that would make such horrid, shapeless, fashion crimes? I’m going to kill them after this is over. Have you felt the poor quality of this material?” Eloim said, pulling the hoodie away from his flesh with a finger and thumb.
“Just remember you’re doing this for Polly. She’s worth it isn’t she?” Karla asked.
When Eloim didn’t answer, Karla walked over to stand in front of her brother. “The words you were looking for are ‘yes she is’. Also if you don’t wear them, I will destroy every item of clothing in this room. Is that clear enough for you?” Karla said with just the right level of menace in her tone. “Now, Polly is worth it isn’t she?”
“Yes Karla.” Eloim mumbled.
