Tineretului Park (Youth Park) is located in Bucharest, district 4, a short distance south of Union Square, the city center. It is one of the largest parks in Bucharest. Youth Park is a place for children, with many playgrounds, wide walkways, cars and sports facilities for children.
Built from 1965 to 1974 Tineretului Park is the creation of architect Valentin Donose. The purpose was to arrange a green recreational space for the population in the south of Bucharest. The park has also a lake, Tineretului Lake with around 130000 square meters. Above the lake there is a great terrace, Cafeneaua Actorilor de Vara, which serves some good coffee and food.
In this place you can find Seagulls and Mallard (known also as wild duck). In spring you will also have the opportunity to see migratory birds.
Oraselul copiilor (Kids Town)
Oraselul copiilor is a funfair complete with big wheel and other rides, some of which are really scary and for over-18s only. Most of the rides cost 1-3 EURO. It was recently renovated and is a good choice for families with kids.
Palatul National al Copiilor (National Children Palace)
It's an other beautiful place dedicated to children. Here runs educational and artistic activities of children. In Palatul National al Copiilor there are some entertainment areas: theater hall (consisting of a hall of 800 seats, stage and annexes), astronomical observatory of children, sports area, technical area etc.
Sala Polivalenta
In the middle of the park is the Sala Polivalenta – a popular venue for concerts, exhibitions and big indoor sporting events. Unfortunately I never been there. :(
My favorite activities in the park are running and cycling around the lake. You can rent a bike for 1 Euro per hour or 4 Euro per day.
