Back from an epic weekend! We left for ‘sunny’ Blackpool on Friday evening and travelled two and a half hours to get to our hotel.
Blackpool Tower
It was well-worth the trip! We caught up with a lot of our friends at the hotel once we’d checked in. They were sitting in the hotel bar, chilling, laughing, chatting, catching up. A lot of us haven’t seen each other since June when we meet up in a HUGE field, pitch our tents and host our Club Rally (it’s another name for a party with bikers).
Saturday morning arrived and @s0u1 had to go back to bed, he was broken from the night before (lightweight!).
Saturday lunchtime we collected a slightly recovered @s0u1 and went off into town. Well, as the locals would say: ‘We had a lot of weather’… The walk started with a stiff breeze which built up to an ear-blistering gale. We could see the clouds offloading their rain out over the sea but we had no doubt it was heading for shore.
Mr Gee looking at the weather over the sea
Mr Gee needed to pop into a pub to make use of the facilities (another local term, he needed to pee). While he was in the pub (taking way too long…) more weather arrived and pelted us waiting with hail, wind, sleet and anything the weather gods had lying around.
@s0u1 nipped into a shop for a hangover cure – shortbread! Mr Gee, Mad Dave, @s0ul and I took shelter until the weather let up and we scoffed the shortbread and biscuits. A nice, impromptu picnic!
On the way back from the joke shop where Mr Gee wanted to buy hot sweets and blue-mouth sweets for work, we called into a store and I bought a new coat – the one in the store in my home town was way too big. Happy me!
Our club AGM over and done with, we went to a restaurant with the offer of ‘all you can eat’ and approximately 60 of us responded with: Challenge Accepted!
FEED ME!
Then we trundled off to a pub just across the road and the evening started with karaoke (no thanks) and rock music – yes please!
Blackpool Tower by night
We all ended up in a bar across town and the evening finally wound down at around 12:30 for us. I’m assured that some stayed out way later – I believe the reports because some didn’t make it for breakfast and others that did make it for breakfast looked like they were regretting the decision to get up.
So, I’m back home and back to writing.
