Today, October 14, the Orthodox feast is celebrated Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos. For Ukraine as a whole, and for every citizen in particular, this holiday means a lot. First of all, this holiday is associated with the Ukrainian Cossacks. Recall that the Mother of God is considered the patroness of the Ukrainian Cossacks. Taking into account the merits of the Cossacks to our state and the Ukrainian people, in 1999 (August 7) the president, L. D. Kuchma, issued decree No. 966/99. By this document he established on October 14th the day of the Ukrainian Cossacks.
In 2014, by the decree of Poroshenko, this day was established as the "Day of Defender of Ukraine." He began to celebrate in 2015. On March 5, 2015, the Verkhovna Rada approved the bill of the President, with which he made this day a weekend. Accordingly, in 2018, Ukrainians rest on October 15th.

As such, large-scale celebrations are not held on this day. But, we should note that in Kotovsk there is a temple of the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos. It is located near the turn to Kosyansky leveling Sugar Plant Microdistrict). You understand that the feast of the Intercession, is considered a temple for the parishioners of the church. Accordingly, there is annually held a festive worship service, which is attended by preachers from different parts of the area.
In addition, Father Jacob conducts holiday worship, in honor of the Ukrainian Cossacks. This year the event was attended by representatives of the Black Sea Cossacks. They defended the service and prayed for our country. Cossacks saluted their ancestors.
Thus, despite the fact that there are no large-scale celebrations, Kotovsk still honored the memory of the Cossacks. In the Museum of Local Lore there is an exhibition dedicated to the Defenders of our country as a whole, and the city in particular. We are preparing material from the museum.
