My mother always called me her Turkey Baby. Why is that? I was born on Thanksgiving Day. That doesn't mean my birthday is always on Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is one of those weird holidays that is the last Thursday of November. As such it can occur on different numerical days within the month. This means my particular birthday is only sometimes thanksgiving.
I've often had people say "Man that must suck!" as it is generally not cool to have a birthday on a holiday as then the focus is not on your birthday.
That may have been true when I was younger, but it doesn't seem like it really happened for the most part when I was younger. I am 46 this year and I honestly think it has only happened maybe 4 times.
As I get older I actually like it when it happens as I'm not really into cake, and I don't make a big deal about my birthday or really care that much. Yet when it does fall on Thanksgiving I get a lot of really cool food that I like a lot more than cake. This means when it happens now I actually enjoy it.
When it doesn't happen then my birthday is really just another day and I don't expect to or even desire to do anything truly special. Some people may find this saddening, but it really doesn't bother me. It is my preference. If my family knew it was a big deal to me then I am 100% certain they would make a big deal about it. It is kind of hard for them to get excited about it, if I don't personally get excited about it.
Thanksgiving though... we get excited about that... food coma here I come....
Steem On!
