Now is the time for all the good people to come to the aid of this platform - inspiration by @c0ff33a ☕️

It feels like everyone is a little down, just like the value of Steem right now. But it's good to see you all posting, working away and sharing that special unique content that constantly draws new people in. I have managed to reach many posts this weekend, which you will know if you read through my blog because every one of the resteems is a post I have enjoyed reading, upvoted and left a worthy comment on.

I really don't advise my resteem approach, it makes it really hard to find your own posts amongst the resteems and even the Steemit official guidance for users says not to resteem too often because it looses your content! I'm fortunate that you are all very tenacious, and some how find my posts despite my best efforts to hide them. And just like you all, I appreciate it when I receive a nice comment on my post.

Comments really are the life blood of Steemit, everyone appreciates a nice comment and even constructive criticism as long as it is done appropriately. But there is a darker side of comments, when they are used to spam, abuse or bully others it's a negative aspect that can spread throughout Steemit. Every blog post and comment on here is an advertisement for the blogging platform Steemit and the cryptocurrency Steem - if someone finds a post of what appears very good quality, and then finds an abusive and derogatory comment below - how would that encourage them to join this platform? When every day someone new says retention is down and this platform is struggling to draw in new users, it really doesn't surprise me if people can be allowed to go around leaving abusive comments and nobody really seems interested in doing anything to stop it.

I don't think there is any benefit to stooping to the low level of others though, keeping the moral high ground is far more important. So if you encounter abusive or derogatory comment don't encourage whoever might have left it, just support the original poster and leave them an appropriate comment to show you appreciated their work. I think it is the most important aspect of this social blogging site that we support the posts of others, including a comment where possible it helps demonstrate the social and friendly atmosphere we are all working so hard to forge.

It is worth noting as well the importance of using original content in posts, be that your own writing or own images where possible - otherwise always provide the source of the graphic or text used and be careful not to used copyrighted material - there are plenty or Royalty Free sites for images such as https://pixabay.com or https://www.pexels.com. Choosing images from a Google image search is not appropriate, the majority of these are subject to copyright and should not be used in your posts - which are commercial and you are earning from the use of the content within it. If you are using copyright images in your post, the only option is to decline rewards on the post.

It's nice to be important, but it is far more important to be nice. Together we are a strong community of like minded individuals sharing a wide variety of unique content, keep working together to support each other and as many people you can find the time to reach out to.

The SBD Rewards from this post when it pays out will be donated to @youarehope to help with all the incredible charitable works they do.

The greatest challenge we face on Steemit is getting our posts seen, I have always believed the simplest and best value way of doing this is by commenting on the blog posts of others, the more you engage people and interact with them the greater the chance they will visit your own blog and return the favour.
