The Old Fortress of Kerkyra is one of its most famous historical monuments of Corfu.
The fortress was built in the Byzantine era on an inaccessible massive rock. Here you can still see carved on the walls bas-reliefs of ancient coats of arms, cannons, stone stairs with high steps and other traces of bygone years.
From the upper observation deck of the fortress offers impressive views of the expanses of the Ionian sea and the city of Kerkyra, the capital of Corfu.
I'd like to show you some pictures of this place.
The entrance to the fortress.
The territory of the fortress is large enough so to explore it all will take more than one hour.
Panoramic views of Kerkyra and the sea.
Thank you for travelling with me.
