Hidden karaoke bar - Hong Kong [Day 6]

IMG_0876.jpg

My trip to Hong Kong is coming to an end. I use my 6th day to slow it down a bit on traveling. I need some time off. The past days were absolutely phenomenal and I need some time to process everything and to regain energy.

On this day I only head to the Hong Kong central to go and buy shoes. The hunt is on! It's hard to find to find shoes for me. I have US size 13 or 14, depending on the brand. Not many stores have these big shoes.

I eventually have to settle with Nike basketball shoes that are size 13. I wanted to have some running shoes as those are a better fit for backpacking. But the running shoes size 13 didn't fit and size 14 is impossible to find.

Karaoke bar

In the evening I meet up with Adrian, Jason and Abby. Adrian and Jason work in the hostel I'm staying at. They wanted to go to a bar and play darts. They asked me to join them, so I did.

The place we settled with is a hidden bar. It's impossible to find and you really need to know the place. In Hong Kong the rent on the bottom floor is too high. So a lot of bars are higher up the building. This bar was on the 17th floor of what looked like a residential building. There are no signs of a bar. You just have to enter the residential building, step in the elevator, go to the 17th floor, knock on the door and wait for someone to open it.

This was so crazy to me. When I saw the building I was like, where is this guy taking us? Having someone local to hang around with is always amazing! It gives you the best experience.

The bar was pretty relaxed. There weren't that many people. There were a few guys chilling there and singing karaoke. We had some beers and started playing darts.

After the darts, we played a dice game. But we turned it into a drinking game and whoever lost had to bottoms up the glass. It was absolutely fun. But after a while, we cranked up the stakes. The loser has to karaoke!

Luckily I didn't loose that game. Abby and Adrian did, so they settled with a duet. After this, we were all in the karaoke mood. We all choose songs and did some karaoke.

This is the real experience! Me and Adrian where the only foreigners there. Jason and Abby are local. This is a unique experience. It's not something any tourist ends up doing. I'm very grateful to have this experience and to be able to share it.

Rooftop

Me and Adrian ended the night by going to the rooftop of this building. I just can't get enough of rooftopping. After my first experiences with it, I can't stop. It gives me such an amazing feeling. Altho I don't think it's very responsible to do this after drinking. Adrian was pretty drunk and slurring his words. I had forbidden him to climb any ladders, he was not in any condition to do so. But I did and got another floor higher up. The view was just unbelievable!
