You would be hard pressed to find a more idyllic location for a restaurant. Perched on the rocks overlooking the azure Andaman Sea, "Serendipity on the Rocks" restaurant is blessed with a picture-postcard background for its diners.

SERENDIPITY

This gorgeous restaurant is in a stunning location on the North/Eastern corner of Koh Lipe Island in Thailand. Simple wooden structures attached to the rocks, and cushions and tables make up the decor. From every seat in the restaurant you gaze out over the amazing Andaman Sea. It really is breathtaking. The restaurant constantly reviews on Trip Advisor as the top place to eat on the island and I'm not surprised.

THE FOOD

It would be easy enough for this restaurant to trade on its location, but thankfully the food is excellent as well. They make the most of fresh local ingredients to serve up delicious modern Thai dishes. We tried 3 dishes and they were all excellent. Sweet & Sour Sea Bass, Som Tum & Swimmer Crab, Squid with Lime & Chili. Each one of these were superb and equally as good as any I would get in a top restaurant in Bangkok. The freshness of the seafood really stood out as well.

This was a wonderful meal in a magical setting. What made it even better was that the prices were very reasonable. It cost no more than an average Thai restaurant, but it was so much more. The only drawback is that there were quite a few creepy-crawlies, but when you are dining outdoors in the tropics that is to be expected.
