1 Kilometre Of Pure Magenta Love

I applaud the long term vision of the designer. The full glory of this masterpiece took years to unfold. I remember when this arbour walk was first built and the tiny little bougainvillea vines were knee high. The arbour looked strange and gangly, with high curling steel posts and stumpy little plants at the base.

Over the years I have watched these magnificent vines grow over the steel posts and every summer explode with fiercely  vibrant magenta blooms. It is a statement piece, the defining feature of Southbank Parklands in Brisbane, Australia.

Every time I visit Brisbane, I love to swing by Southbank and do the one kilometre walk under the lush shade of this beautiful plant. This time the flowers had not quite taken over but you can see where it is heading. Give it another month!

Until next time,

xx Isabella
