From Bergen to Riga

I spent two nights in Bergen and on the third day early morning I checked out the hotel. It was raining and as the bus terminal was almost 700 meters away, hotel receptionist gave me an umbrella. It helped me a lot, otherwise I would have got completely wet. Bus terminal to the Airport was almost 45 minutes drive. As there was no direct flight, I had to go to Oslo first . From Oslo it was an Air Baltic flight, which took almost 95 minutes to reach Riga.

Riga is the capital of Latvia. It is the home to many museums, churches and concert halls. It was a part of Soviet Union before, but now it is a Schengen Country.
St.Peter'Church, Riga Cathedral and Riga Nativity Christ Cathedral are some of the famous churches in the Riga city.

Central market, Riga town hall , Freedom monument are some of the other tourist attractions in Riga.

My next visit was to Central market. It is included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site. It has five pavilions constructed using old German Zeppelin hangers. This market has an area of 72300 square meter with more than 3000 trade stands. It is a market for fish, meat, foods and clothes. Below are some of the pictures of Central market:

Riga town itself is very beautiful and very ancient. Old town is also another area of tourist attraction.

Another place of interest is the Freedom Monument. It is a memorial honoring the soldiers killed during Latvian War of Independence .

A walk tour of the Old city is also recommended to the tourists.

I have really enjoyed my stay in Riga for days. I will write about my tour to the next destination later.
