I'm a person who needs to move around. I usually don't want to sit at home all day or not going to visit interesting places at least once a week. Need for traveling is very high in me, that's why I do it a lot. Well actually, I cant say traveling because usually I'm just driving around in Estonia and that's more like taking trips. One of these trips happened in 22nd April.
I invited some friends with me because I don't want to get bored on long drives and I like to explore new places with other human beings. We started driving from Tallinn about 12 PM and our first destination was Blue Springs Of Saula. It was 37 kilometers drive from my home, not very far actually. Like the title says, blue springs are located in Saula area. I have never been there before, from pictures the clear blue water in a middle of nowhere seemed a pretty interesting place to check out.
It was about 15 minutes hike through the forest to reach the springs. It was not hard, the terrain was okay and the track was clearly seen. There were some confusing places, where the road went two separate ways but we still managed to not get lost :D
The water really was fully clear. It looks like it's not deep but actually, the depth was about 2-4 meters. There are three major springs that produce a flow of 20 to 30 liters (5.3 to 7.9 US gal) per second. You could even see some mini explosions in the bottom if the water, cant really explain this what this might have been. Looked like some gas was blowing up periodically but it probably was just groundwater.
The problem with some springs was that the clear water was all dirty, full of branches, thorns and some other natural shit. Fortunately, we could still see enough.
Different springs had different colors. Blue-green (Blue Spring), brownish black (Black Spring), and blue-gray (White Spring). Of course what old people thought? Like every other spring, this water there will fix all your eye problems and eye sicknesses. Worth a try!
Looks like a crater from this angle.
Water in this spring will almost never freeze. It maintains 5C temperatures through the year, but I said almost. This water being frozen has happened before but it requires incredibly harsh winter temperatures.

There will be 2 more posts of where we went on this day, coming this week. So, stay tuned!
