Hverarönd Boiling Desert - Iceland

Hverarönd OR Namaskard is a place like no other. Basically, this is a site that is extremely acidic and there is completely sterile ground, no vegetation in sight there. It is located not far from the Krafla volcanic mountain, in northern Iceland.
Every fluid you see on the ground there is on the boiling point. There you can find hot springs, fumaroles, mud pools and mud pots.

If you are in Iceland then you can drink almost everywhere you want because water is so pure there but this place is an exception. If you see any water flowing there then this is imbued with sulfur so don't drink it, Its highly acidic. Even the air, sulfur is poisonous for the vegetation and also for humans. This will not cause any harm if you stay there in short-term but you better not breathe it for a couple of hours straight. You can feel sulfur in the air, it smells like rotten eggs.

All this mud was exploding in the hole continuously, it's extremely hot, you don't want to touch that.

Despite the lack of any vegetation, the ground is amazing. Minerals have painted the ground colorful in many places there, it's truly spectacular.
