St. Mark’s Basilica located in Venice is one of the famous churches in the world. It was once the Doge’s private chapel. Byzantine art treasures, recovered by robbery and taken back by Venetian ships after the decline of Constantinople, are used to decorate the church. Constantinople was the previous name of Istanbul.
