Tinago Falls are 240 feet or almost 80 meters high. It is located in Barangay Ditucalan, near Iligan City. There are many falls that are worth the trip in the region close to Iligan City. Iligan is in Northern area of the island of Mindanao, in Lanao del Norte Philippines.

Entrance to the falls is free! As with the Sungkilaw Falls that I posted about a few days ago, there were guides there to help. They really came in handy as we had kids and my wife’s 72 year old aunt with us. The guides are helping only on a tipping basis, whatever you think they are worth. They helped with photos and carrying equipment. We rented lifejackets for 60 pesos each, which is equal to about $1.20 in US Dollars.

This place is only about a 3 hour drive from where we live in the Philippines. My wife, @ronafe is celebrating her birthday today. So this is how we enjoy on a very tight budget.

This place used to be a privately owned resort. So many buildings that are falling apart, leaving just a remnant of what used to be an incredible place. We heard rhe government has purchased the property and it will be upgraded some in the near future, we didn’t count the number of steps on the way down. The steps were treacherous in places and very steep.

The concrete on the steps was broken and falling in every direction and the railing was bamboo and in poor repair. Not a complaint, just an observation. I love the adventure!

It is not a nature hike with out the water buffalo or Caribou

This animal looks mean, but they are supposed to me more docile than a cow. Also the original authentic mozzarella cheese comes from a Water Buffalo Cow’s milk.

The falls are really beautiful and the water is clear and cool.

The kids got to go in the water. Seems like they are having a good time.

For me, this is the best part of an adventure like this. Seeing the faces of the kids light up.

We got lifejackets on the kids and we boarded a raft made from bamboo. We were told the water depth is around 70 feet. We then went directly beneath the waterfalls. I used a protective sleeve to keep my phone from getting wet.

My son wanted to go, but he wasn’t sure after we got closer to the falls.
